Stash enhancement- 1 soaker finished already!

Well, I bought this yarn yesterday and as stated in reply to a comment, it was talking to me begging me to knit! I had bubby in my arms and just picked up the wool and needles, had no pattern and just played with it, this is the result. I cast on too wide so the side seams-yes I knitted it flat. are along the front and I also picked up a crochet hook( I dont crochet!) and I don't know what stitch it is but it looks ok and is the same all the way round, so I have a fully complete soaker in just a few hours, all done whilst holding Logan- I was truly desperate to knit-LOL. I am not sure whether to add a drawstring or not, but I had yarn left, so I could and this is like a medium/large?

LOL somehow I knew you would choose that yarn because the fabric the skeins are laying on are the same colors. Really cute. Looks like you did a row of single crochets. I wish I could do needlework while holding/nursing the now not-so-little-one. He's half my size now at 2.5- I'm 4' 10", and has never let me do it. I have given him a short circular needle I'm not too fond of due to a stiff cable and made him a little square of knitting and he will poke at it at times. He concentrates quite a lot while doing so. Great that you could just do it. :-)

Thanks guys, Well I chose that yarn 1st in case it turned out too girly with the pink, thought he better wear it whilst still small, Logan is very interested in my knitting at the moment, so best to knit whilst hes sleepy/feeding. I usually do the seaming when he is more interested. I felt I had to use crochet edging as the wool was so bulky I thought picking up stitches would be too lumpy to be comfortable, but now the leg holes are a bit big, but so is the whole thing, but hes wearing it and I will wash uit to make sure it doesn't felt too small. I finished a cute little vest for Logan today which you can see in my blog-under Mel in the sidebar. I thought the soakers is stretching the longies connection enough without adding tops etc. I love the picture as bubs looks so sweet sitting up, I am holding 1 hand of his whilst taking the picture-lol.

Great job on the soakers - I couldn't imagine what I'd come up with without a pattern! Let alone while holding a baby!

Very nice. I love the yarn and you did a great job for not having a pattern. Heck.. I wouldn't know it was freehand.

thanks Lana and Neeroc, I was pretty happy myself, it turned out ok and functions so you cant ask for much more. I was just so frustrated at never having time to knit all the ideas in my head-lol. The little vest in my own blog was just made up as well, not perfect but my 1st v-neck and no pattern so not too bad. I have started a new paor of sheepypants tonight with the wool I posted a picture of, I the ribbing done though and am just so tired that I am off to bed early for me at 9.30 pm thanks again, Mel
